American Graffiti - Special Edition?

Is there a special DVD edition of American Graffiti coming? I seem to recall reading about a year ago that a 2-disc set was in the works, but have heard nothing since. How is the version that is out there now?

There was a "special edition" VHS tape some years ago that included souped-up footage; I assume this is the same as the current DVD.

And is it true that Universal is releasing More American Graffiti on Sept. 2?

The current version is really very good... it has great picture quality and a really interesting documentary. I have never heard that 2-disc set rumor...

If by 'souped-up footage' you mean the minor CGI change, then yes, the DVD is the same. It's really just one brief shot at the beginning, where Lucas used CGI to alter the look of the sky and to make a pronounced sunset.

And, yes, More American Graffiti has been announced.

Could someone explain to me what More American Graffiti is? I loved Lucas's film. . . but what exactly is the above mentioned?

Digitally enhanced so that Opie shoots first.

It's the (vastly-inferior) sequel:

How much more special do you want?? The collector's edition that is out now is pretty decent and well worth getting if you like the film... with a film as old as this one, I don't think they'll get much more onto the disc... Universal hasn't announced any sort of American Graffiti Ultimate Edition or anything that I've ever heard of, and honestly, don't think they will revisit this title, so grab the one that's out now.

Yeah, I agree. A cast (and/or Lucas) commentary could be fun... but I think that everyone has said pretty much all there is to be said on the documentary.

I have comments in my personal "to buy" excel file that a new version is comming out later this year. The problem is I have no reference two support it.

I would not have gone through the trouble of entering it if I did not have credible information.
