The only special features on the first disc is the audio commentary and the interactive mode (subtitles and extended branching) feature.

Disc two holds the 24 minute documentary (No Feat But What We Make), 8 minute montage (T2: On the Set), a 3 minute trailer for the Ultimate Edition DVD, and all the DVD-ROM features (HD version of the film and stupid games).

And still no Guns N' Roses music video or actual footage from T2:3D. I'm sure with Artisan's track record, we'll see a "T2: Extravaganza" DVD soon or something combining the UE and the Extreme DVD.

Don't forget the fake-HD version via Media Player 9.

It's not HD, but it's higher-res then the DVD video version is.

It's sounds like this was put together to cash in on the release on T3. A new release wasn't really necessary

Is this going to make people run out and wanna watch T3?? I doubt it especially if the movie is as crappy as the trailer looks (sorry Arnie! You should have bowed out despite the $30m pay check. Here's a clue for ya No Cameron=No movie!)

I think the new features and new transfer warrant another release.

Just the commentary by Cameron alone is worth the low low price.

Couple that with some new doc material (as opposed to the old stale stuff on the UE) and I'm sold.

They are saving that for the Ultimate Extreme Edition!

Are those two cut scenes from the extended version on the disk at all?

I'll stick with my barely watchable UE thanks.

Don't have any gripes with the new EE. It's just that I don't personally feel the need to waste valuable shelf space and money buying a movie and extras that I already own.

And with my regular 27-inch tv I doubt I'd notice the picture improvement anyway. By the time I'm able to afford a 50-inch HDTV we'll all be uploading movies into our microchip brain implants anyway.

You're correct Phil.
Mid 20-inch TVs is the reason Edge Enhancement is used at all.

On my HDTV, the EE is so bad, I don't think there is a scene where it doesn't exist.
I'll happily upgrade and keep both copies.

I've been happy with the UE for quite some time now as it has a better transfer than tv, laserdisc, previous editions, and probably most theaters. *shrugs*

Dumb question, but what features (if any) do we lose?

Compared to the 'Ultimate Edition'? You lose just about everything...

The supplements on the new disc (including the commentary) are all-new. The old (interview) commentary and all of the UE supplements are not included on this new set.

You are aware that the new edition does not have edge enhancement right? So there is no "new" EE - EE does not exist on the new edition.

I don't think there would be room for the words extreme edition in the title.

Let's see:

First WS laserdisc version
Grey Box Set Laserdisc version
Black Leather Laserdisc version
Ultimate DVD version
(I even have a 8MM video tape version)

I'm gonna skip the EE verison.

Yeah, but I can't seem to make myself get rid of the Black Leather LD version... it just looks too damn cool!

So, disc two only contains 35 minutes of material? The DVD rom features are BS. Who's gonna watch the film on a 19" or 21" computer screen, even if it is HD...?

Hmm... I'll wait for the true HD version in, what...? five years or so...?

Heh, I'm not buying a movie for the third time which I only consider to be average anyways :P

BTW, I have to show this movie to someone who has never seen it before, but wants to because of T3 coming out soon. Which version should I show them? I have the UE, isn't there like three versions?

Show'em the special extended version
Spoiler:
where it shows that Judgement Day never came and that John Connors has children
and tell'em that they'll have to see T3 to see how it continues. That'll show'em.

Actually DON'T show'em the extended version since it has no way to transition into the sequel. Either the special edition or the theatrical will do fine.

After looking at the trailer, I would say to show them the extended version, (which, IMHO, is the best version with that great ending), and tell them to skip T3...

I'll probably go see it, but isn't this just the same story again...?

Yeah, well, everyone seemed to like it the last time.

Plus, it has a hot chick instead of Robert Patrick. That's a bonus, right?

And we see some skin from her anyway (according to the international trailer and the mpaa which gave it an r for "strong sci fi action/violence, language and brief nudity."
