"Unable to read disc" (DVD problem)
 

So I bought "The Hunt For Red October: SE" today. I was watching it and noticed that it paused and hesitated numerous times in a matter of 2-3 minutes, then the entire DVD stopped and it read "Unable to read disc". The disc is brand new and has no scratches or dust on it. Any ideas what's wrong here? I am running a PS/2 DVD player but it's one of the "good batches" of PS/2s released and hasn't given me any problems before.

Have you tried the disc on another player? It sounds like a bad disc to me.

Works fine on my PS2.

Exchange it and spin it again. Possible that it's a bad disc. Possible that the PS2 is going on the blink. See your thread in the Hardware forum.

I'm going to Best Buy today and exchanging it for another one, and hopefully it's just the DVD. On the other hand if it IS my PS/2 that is malfunctioning I'll be able to justify spending over $200 and get a good DVD player. :) We shall see.
