Major poll regarding future QUEEN DVD's!
 

I've begun a new poll regarding future Queen DVD's, specifically the sound options featured on them. While the inclusion of DTS is appreciated by some, many Queen fans are unable to enjoy the surround mix because they do not have the capability to listen to DTS.

With only a DTS track as the sole surround sound option, we are left with only a simple stereo mix. However, if Queen were to include a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix on future DVD's, many more fans would be able to enjoy the surround mixes that Queen, Justin Shirley-Smith, etc, have worked so hard on.

Question/observation/whatever... It's my understanding that Queen is, to date, exclusive with DTS Entertainment... See > A Night At The Opera DVD-A, The Game DVD-A, Video Hits Volume One DVD-V, etc... In the case of the DVD-A discs, they have been released by DTS Entertainment and in the case of the DVD-Vs, they feature DTS 96/24 tracks... You think they'll budge to include a rival (DD) format? I don't see it...

The Queen catalog is being released by DTS Entertainment, as such, the DVD-Vs feature the remixed DTS tracks... See where I'm going with this? Queen fans will, most likely, have to have DTS decoding... At this point in time almost every new receiver and DVD-V player feature DTS decoding...

Don't a lot of the more recent DVD players have DTS-out already?

Actually Johnny, they did have a DD mix made for the Freddie tribute DVD, but obviously it wasn't used. There is no formal agreement between Queen and DTS where the band would only use that kind of mix exclusively.

It just seems that, by voting no, you're saying "Screw the other Queen fans, tough luck." It would seem by what you said, it would've made more sense for you to not vote at all.

Ah, OK, so there is no formal agreement. That's a little different but it sure seems like Queen and DTS are in the same house, if not the same bed.

By voting no, I'm saying that DTS is featured on damn_near every receiver and DVD player released in the last two years. And <i>I</i> would rather not see the disc space wasted on a DD track when a DTS track - and usually an excellent one at that - is already available.

I disagree; if you give a "no" option, it's going to be used. BTW, did you add the yellow part at the bottom, or did I just not see it before? I might have voted yes (too late now) if I'd seen that line, and if this hadn't been there "(a much more common option than DTS)"--if they have to choose only one, I'd prefer it to be DTS (sorry), but I'm fine with both (as long as something else isn't left out to fit the DD).

We should also tell them that we want all of their concert and music video dvd's in their CORRECT OAR of 1:33 and not in widescreen!
