No Michael Mann fans here?

1. The Jericho Mile. Mann Directed film from @ 1979, w/ Peter Strauss (in one of the best perfermances of his career), as an imprisoned long distance runner. If you love Mann's characters, you have to see this.

2. L.A. Takedown. The dress rehersal for Heat. It would be fun to compare and contrast. Especially w/ a new Heat Special Edition. (What the hell...shoot high.) [This is apparently available in Region 2, but those of us w/ R1 players might like a little taste.]

3. Gold Rush. Bruce Campbell and Alyssa Milano, two of my faves.

Oh, and I concurr on the brilliant Elvis, and I saw Birds of Prey when I was @ 6 and bawled my eyes out. I just saw it again a few years ago, one afternoon on TBS. It's still pretty good.

I'll add two more titles to the mix:

Love Among the Ruins (1975 classic with Laurence Olivier & Katharine Hepburn
under the direction of George Cukor); and

Evil Roy Slade (1971 guilty pleasure, a comedy western...pre-Blazing Saddles...starring John Astin.)

Good choice. I was hoping someone else would pick Jericho Mile.

Other than some of the ones mentioned, I would add a fun little movie starring William H. Macy and his wife Felicity Huffman called A Slight Case of Murder that was made for TNT, I believe, a few years ago.

It was entertaining... and William H. Macy is almost always greatness.

Another vote for "I Know My First Name Is Steven"- very disturbing but hard to get out of your head. The way they show things on TV now, nothing could have the same effect this had.
The actor who played the kidnapper was Arliss Howard, but he was not credited anywhere in the show. I only found it out through imdb.

I remember seeing this... IIRC, he had multiple personalites because his father locked him in the closet, I remember a scene of a regression therapy session with him re-experiencing it as a child and breaking down in tears...

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (I'd love to know if this is as scary as I remember it - I'm sure the ending haunted many a child's bedtime in the 70s)
Bad Ronald (I always thought this would make a good band name, no one ever agreed with me)
The Bermuda Depths (awful, but I'd love to see it again - the one with the giant turtle!)
Threads (more disturbing and effective than the The Day After)
Best Little Girl In The World (oddly compelling anorexia drama starring a teenage Jennifer Jason Leigh)
