Gangs of New York

Hi,

Anyone know if there is a Director's Cut due any time for this? I understand that Scorcese's original cut was some 4 hours?

Thanks in advance

Scorcese has said that the theatrical cut is the director's cut and that no longer version will ever be released.

That's quite the threadcrap there, Sosai.

I liked the movie and will be picking it up.
Nevertheless, Roger Ebert ran an interview/article with/about Martin Scorsese shortly before the film's release where Scorsese had been quoted as saying that the theatrical release is the director's cut. He confirmed this again when I saw him speak at Brown University.

Kind of disappointed about the lack of deleted scenes, though.

Since you are the new crap police could you go through the other 200 recent threads and report each one that got a tad off topic.

At least he stuck to the film at hand, most craps have absolutely nothing to do with the subject. If you care to get technical the author could have pulled 5-6 threads up with a quick use of the search feature that would have been more appropriate than starting a new thread. No offense Squirrel God, you'll get used to it. Oh, and welcome to the forum BTW.

Re: Re: Re: This movie sucked

Ah Schmeggs, it's one thing to go "a tad off topic" and another to threadcrap. There's already a good few threads lauding and deriding GONY, Sosai didn't have to use this one as his/her soapbox. It's not worth arguing over.

On topic, JJE-187 mentioned he had seen a three hour workprint before. Perhaps not as much of the film has been pared down as originally thought?

The recent posts are the reason why if you have a problem with a post, just report it, and leave it at that... don't post about it. Otherwise, the thread spirals further and further away from the topic.

Actually, although there may be no lengthier "director's cut" released for this title, the studio heads have said they plan another DVD release down the road with deleted scenes included among the extras. There was an article in USA Today about that a while back and thread on here sometime about it as well.
