25th Hour: DVD Cover...

Hmm.

Edward Norton, the new Tom Cruise? Yes, in one respect, anyway.

The "Giant Floating Head" syndrome that is so prevalent today, strikes yet again. Ok maybe it has part of a body attached, but you get my drift.

[Homer Simpson]mmmmm...joint.[/Homer]

I like the cover. Not quite as nice as the original poster, but it works for me. I've been trying to talk myself out of buying this one and lately have been losing the battle. I really liked the movie, especially Norton's performance, but I just wonder if I would ever watch it enough to justify buying it.

I already decided about a month ago I didn't need this one, but I get the strange feeling that I won't be able to control the urge and it will show up in my collection some day.

This is a first-day purchase for me. Hopefully the disc won't be full of nothing, but then again I bought the barebones Summer Of Sam, so it doesn't REALLY matter.

they should have stayed with the original cover; i'm not a big fan of changing the artwork for dvd release, especially when it looks worse

other examples include about a boy, two weeks notice, equilibrium, etc

Is it just me or does Norton look like David Arquette on the cover?

I believe the DVD is supposed to at least have a commentary from Spike Lee and some featurettes. That Lee commentary almosts seals the deal for me.

Studio: "AMERICAN AUDIENCES ARE STUPID AND WON'T BUY DVD IF NOT FOR HUGE HEAD OF STAR ON COVER."

No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people...

because they think we as Americans are stupid and won't buy a DVD without a mugshot on the front. I say this becasue I'm sure many other countires get better art.

This is one case where I loved the movie so much that I might print out a custom cover to replace this one. The original poster is really striking, and one of Lee's best, and shouldn't have been tampered with.

If they were gonna tamper with it, why not just put a giant Tony "The Goose" Siragusa head on it, and bill it as THE NFL PRESENTS TONY SIRAGUSA IN ...a spike lee joint.

Also, the dog is lost in the design.

Nevertheless, I can't wait until this gets to my mailbox.

Can anyone post what the original poster looked like?

And I don't know if Spike Lee himself designed the poster. Usually they have poster artists to do that kind of thing (as opposed to the DVD release, where some monkey in marketing slaps the thing together in Photoshop).

Much better. A great use of color and space. Oh well, DVDCoverart should fulfill most people before too long.

Well, if I know my NY geography correctly, the ending certainly made it seem that he was heading north on the Taconic or Saw Mill River Parkway towards the prison.
