I ordered this puppy off one the DVD talk sponsers via corded on their wats line. I mentioned I was *still* on DVD talk and would like them to keep sponsering our on topic DVDF buying. I have ordered 3 times since I joined DVDF, I always buy off of forum sponsers, before going anywere else!

In case you guys don't know, this movie has alot of "Adult" stars to came together on this one.
James Mason, Kirk Douglas, and my all time favorite Peter Lorre, who NEVER played roles like this. Watch his earlier films, and it's amazing to see how good he did in this one with a "nice" charcter.
Every child should see this movie at age 8, this IS fantasy done right.

I wonder how todays' kids react when seeing it for the first time. I remember how I was terrified (but I loved it!) during the squid attack but by todays standards the effects are pretty cheesy.

2 vertical oval port with that bright green lamp burning 50,000 watts coming at the ship. Seeing the monster headed right for them at collision speed.
When it submerged to rip out the bottom I was under the seat, my dad was trying to get me back up in my chair age 7 on December 23, 1954
I only knew after hearing the dialogue on what the sub was going to do, Man do I ever get into a movie then and now.
P. S. I owe all my memories to W W 2 leg cut off man, who talked to a 5 or 6 year old kid about making memories to last a life time and I did. R.I.P. Robert 'Soup' Gavarnic the man that that made me do things to have memories. He was the man who in talking with my father suggested I see the new 20,000 LeaguesUTS on a cold December day 2 days before Christmas, 49 years ago in 1954!

I'll pick it up. My Dad will like it even if I don't.
Danol, you've posted ten times in this thread. One is even a 'bump'. Call me crazy, but I'd swear you're really looking forward to this DVD...

7 days to Volcania, Now if they would only release "Master of the World" another film from Jules Verne. Movie is simular to 20,000 but it's from the air in a multi propeller drivin airship by Captain Robur (Robur The Conquerer) stars Vincent Price as Robur, Charles Bronson in character of Ned Land of 20,000 LUTS.
Only 7 more days, if you have Mysterious
Island that is the sequel to 20,000, kind of reverse order, starring Herbert Lom as Captain No One AKA Nemo, No One is the latin translation of Nemo. You see our author had some latin language teaching, or he found it in a reference book.

After watching some of the extras and checking out the main feature, all I can say is WOW. Outstanding job all around.

I just huddle in the dark just like I was 7 years old all over again and watch the monsters big green eyes headed for my ship.
P.S. You see I have a unique sound system that literally puts you in the movie, made up in 1994 and married to DVD in 1998 with the movie "Stargate" Chapter 16 theatrcal version, all done with Denon AHD-750 Full size 20 Ohm impedence Headphones.
For your reference look up the 'Haas' effect, then add 2,000 milliseconds of reverberation and 100 times of the depth of any known Dolby Decoder, all pouring into your ears from 5 different directions in the dark while watching 20,000 Leagues.
