All-Time Greatest DVD Freeze-frame? PART II
Here is Part I of the original thread started by andyh and his first post is below
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...5&pagenumber=1 Originally posted by andyh So what's the single best freeze-frame you've ever seen? As in you press Pause, take a screenshot, a still, screen grab, a capture, whatever ... I love this moment from RTP. The Director and his DP obviously took a lot of time on it, and it just begs to be frozen in time. But yours could be be cheeky, or dramatic, or symbolic, mindblowing ... or anything. http://www.hiseman.com/ahimages/dvdtalk/perdition02.jpg Road To Perdition, Chapter 21 "The Rain", 1:34:43 (R2 edition) * WATCH YOUR FILE SIZE! Please don't post .BMP images as not all browsers can read them and they can get REALLY large ... use .jpg, .png or .gif if poss. And check your compression (if you know how to do this): a well-compressed .jpg can still look good, be nice and big (eg: 700 pixels wide) and not take up more than about 20k or less. * NAME THAT MOVIE! It REALLY helps if you identify which film the freeze frame comes from ... Some people enjoy trying to work it out, but the consensus seems to be that a caption helps pretty much every time * TAKING SCREEN GRABS * UPLOADING IMAGES Later on in this thread (I'm adding this later, when we're up to 155+ replies), there's plenty of help for people who haven't yet worked out how to take a screen grab. Plus, help for those who need somewhere to post their images so they appear on the screen. Thanks: Andy |

Since I own a WebTV "Plus" model I can freeze *any* 18 or 24 frames per second DVD from any country in the world.
I have taught hundreds of others how to capture any frame, then upload it to the scrapbook. The only thing I can't do is remove the blackness on 2.35:1 or 2.55:1 anamorphics, that have been shown on this thread. I know WebTV HTML crashes computers, but this *way* it's using WebTV technology, to make the .jpeg or .gif into *legal* Uniform Resources Locator (URL). URL can be clicked on and read *without* crashing the computer. I went online in February of 1997 and I started learning the ropes. If you would like to see my freeze frames PLMK. :) |
Civic2oo1,
Sure would be nice to know what a few of those movies are other than the last. |
Anyone want any specific caps from The Two Towers? They'd no doubt make great wallpapers...

^ Right on! Feel free to browse my DVD collection and make any requests. Sorry, I'll label the movies next time.

I posted a few in the first thread and want to post more... but I have a "newbie-to-posting-pics" question first. I don't have all the space in the world in use on AOL. If I delete the pics I used from my website, will they also be deleted from my posts in the first thread? I want to replace those with new ones.
Thanks for any help! |
yea that they will be
|
Hmmmm okay... thanks, chanster. I'll have to plan better :)

Maybe there should be another thread to talk about how to post pictures, as it would be nice to post nothing but screen caps here, but if you reduce the compression down and make your pictures smaller in size (say 480x270 for a 16:9 grab) they won't take up much room.
I'm using the generic Microsoft PhotoEditor to paste and save the pics into (since it's fast to open and has a "Paste as new image" feature) and most of the images are only 30-40Kb. Of course, I have 20Gb of web server space at my disposal... ;) The real problem with the image storage is bandwidth. This is a pretty popular thread and the pictures that I posted in the other forum used about 800Mb of bandwidth this month. Also, when people post pictures, could you please keep the width less than 500px? Most people hate to scroll sideways and I usually post when I'm using a laptop with a relatively small screen. -- Jough |
