The Brood coming to DVD!(+ MGM covers for MM line!)
www.dvddrive-in.com has the covers for MGM's August slate of Midnite Movies.
The Brood by David Cronenberg was just announced..& is also included in the line up. The covers i thought were fairly attractive(especially the Raw Meat dvd!).
Oh yeah..The Howling is there as well.Uses the original poster ark for the most part.
All in all..it's going to be a expensive August!

Very psyched about The Brood. I can finally stop wavering on picking up the OOP French disc or the recent Dutch disc. It'll be cheaper and without PAL->NTSC conversion artifacts, too boot. Woop!
Too bad the cover for the Troll double feature hasn't been posted...I almost don't believe it's really coming.

Ah, The Brood.
It is still the only movie I watched as a kid that had me afraid to go to sleep at night.
I actually watched it at a Mid-Night Movie. I remember getting home from the show and turning all the lights on in the house.
I'm sure if I were to rewatch it now it would probably not have the same effect.

Especially glad to see "The Raven" get released...finally something to compliment the poster MGM gave away a while back!
Once again, very very happy to see "The Howling" get special edition treatment!! Surprised to see the original cover art.

If only Raw Meat lived up to its DVD cover. Looking forward to The Brood, and I might pick up the decent Squirm.

The Brood - YES! MGM is awesome - You gotta love those guys. Now I just need Rabid and a decent edition of Shivers to complete my Cronenberg collection. And more kudos for The Howling SE, Squirm, Poltergeist II/III, and Troll I/II even though I already knew about those!

Hate to rain on the parade, but I've heard through the grapevine that THE BROOD is on hold indefinitely. Hopefully, MGM will have an official announcement one way or another shortly. However, the good news is that if it is a go, Cronenberg is said to have done a commentary track for the DVD!

I will Definitely be picking up SQUIRM.
I sure hope that the Brood is released so that I can sell off my VHS copy.
Burnt Offerings..., was Oliver Reed in that movie? Bette Davis? I seem to remember it, but not really too much of it.
Maybe that's a bad sign

Outstanding news on the Brood! One of the few movies from my childhood that truly creeped me out for a number of months....and sticks with me 25 years later....

MGM will probably be barebone, and use the R version instead of the UNCUT version that ran on Canadian TV awhile back.

From IMDB:
Haunted house chiller from Dan Curtis has Oliver Reed and Karen Black as summer caretakers moving into gothic house with their young son. The catch? The house rejuvenates a part of it's self with each death that occurs on it's premises
I'm SO glad this is going to be released! I was going to purchase this from Blackstar in R2 just to have it in my collection. I remember it scared the Crap out of me as a kid (9 years old). I'm sure it won't have the same effect now, but It'll still be great to see this again.

For everyone that's eyed MGM's August releases' DVD covers, why can't every studio produce such eye-appealing covers for their DVD releases??? (instead of those incessant and ridiculous 'head shot' covers??!!) I even haven't heard of a majority of the August releases, but I'm interested in purchasing all of them regardless because they all have such cool covers.

Don't remember it
I rented "The Brood" in 1987, when I was 16. I don't remember it having any effect on me. I remember it being kind of gross. But that's all. I'll have to see it again.
