What snapper case dvds were later released in regular cases?
I was looking at the Austin Powers trilogy boxset and noticed that the first two were reissued as non-snapper cases. I was wondering what other dvds are similar to this?
I also remember Taxi Driver doing this as well. |
Friday Movies
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rocky IV Blade Mostly all New Line and MGM!!! Here is one Which movies were brought out in Keepcases and than transfered to Snappers Only 1 I have DIRTY DOZEN - came out in keepcase from MGM, than the rights got sold to WB, and now its sold in snapper. I have still in keepcase since i bought in on the release date. |
All the very early MGM releases were also in snappers. I'd say about 50 titles, perhaps more.

What about The Matrix? Did WB rerelease it in non-snapper? Guess I'm the few who likes snapper case, 'cause I never found broken middle tab w/ the snappers while I've found a handful broken middle tab w/ plastic cases.

Early MGM and Artisan titles were released in snappers, and were later changed to keepcases.
Goodtimes used snappers until about a year ago, so those made the transition too. Image Entertainment used snappers until April 2001, and they're slowly re-issuing titles in keepcases. (So, you're dealing with potentially a thousand discs or so...) New Line appears to be slowly switching over, but I haven't seen any sign that they have completely discontinued snapper use. Basically, everyone except Warner Brothers has made the switch and reissued as appropriate. |

Originally posted by joliom I don't think he was referring to separate editions of the same movie. I believe what he meant was the same DVD suddenly turning up in a keepcase when it used to be in a snapper. This happened probably a year or so before the new SE came out. |
That's true about Res. Dogs. I've seen the keepcase version and it's NOT the SE.
I noticed About Schmidt is being released in a keepcase, but of course that one was never in a snapper... -- Jough |
