Very nice and classy from the original poster.

No big Robert De Niro head.

Agreed, no big head shots, and no "its the best Leone movie ever!!!" or something lame like that that are on most dvd covers.

I just knew that this thread was going to be about how the French cover was ten times better than the U.S. version.

ha ha ha ....was this comment directed toward me??

For the record: I am perhaps one of the most fierce supporters of R1. However, when I see a better product (package) I want to make sure that people are aware and demand the same for us-look at the recent "jewels" from WB-Robin Hood and MGM-West Side Story....this is what R1 products should look like...EVERY RELEASE!

... and l love European cinema (well....French movies are my "thing")....so I get to spend a lot of time looking at their market releases.

warner 2 discs are becomming a real classy collection in there own right.

add these to the existing DR ZHIVAGO, CITIZEN KANE, TRUE ROMANCE, AMADEUS, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, UNFORGIVEN AND SINGIN IN THE RAIN set and you've got one cool warner set.

plus if rumours are to be believed - the original robin hood, goodfellas and casablanca ARE to get the 2 disc treatment before the years out plus titles like gone with the wind and king kong in the pipeline warner are becomming the king of treating their classic films with the respect they deserve.

Hmm, shouldn't JFK get new packaging as well (since the whole 2-discs in a snapper with one disc in a per envelope thing was horrible).

By the way, I love the Warner-2disc colelction. Simply awesome. Hopefully, some of these will get picked up by Columbia House. Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite movies and I am ecstatic that it will be coming soon.

ETLIM19, you forgot Color Purple and the best WB 2 disc title in my opinion, Unforgiven.

Hate to be the bearer of slightly bad news, but I went to the Bits to further check this out and here is what I found:

"We've updated the Upcoming DVD Cover Art section to include some 30 new pieces of cover art. We've got all of the new Criterion titles, The Ben Stiller Show, all the new Fox Hong Kong action titles, The Pianist, Once Upon a Time in America (temp art), Bloody Sunday, new Farscape TV episode discs, Death and the Maiden, The Best of Arliss, Vampire Hunters, The Santa Clause 2, M*A*S*H: Season Four, The Quiet American and more"

Thats right folks, temp art... keeping fingers crossed that they keep it.

I can't wait to get the final specs on OUATIA. I have been waiting for this release forever. Warner has really stepped up with these SEs. I won't worry too much about the cover art, they've yet to destroy one of their two-disc SEs with horrible art.

I think that Wild Bunch (Peckinpah) was a WB flipper, I really hope that will get a SE treatment. That way all the flippers that I want will have been re-released.

Not only that, but it's non-anamorphic and the transfer has issues... The Wild Bunch is in dire need of a new release. Probably my #1 needs a re-release title at the moment...

Temp art or not, looks nice... The WB 2 disc SEs are among my favorites. Another here.

I had to open my mouth

The Digital Bits has the new art up, it's not destroyed, but still...

No, it's destroyed IMO.

Sometimes, simpler is better, and they had it. Instead, they opted for the easy way out with a lot of text and another noggin to make sure we know how De Niro looks likes.

Idiots.

Well, it looks like Warner has screwed up the cover art for Once Upon a Time in America: Special Edition 2-disc set. It's obvious that they think a "big head" cover will sell the DVD better than the original artwork.

Sad thing is they're probably right.
