I have seen the movie, so I am not looking for a review on that. Just the disc. Mainly the quality of the picture and sound, as I have seen the VHS and it was absolutely horrific.
Thanks,
Dan

DVD Talk Legend
I hate to bump a thread that is, well, almost four years old, but I might as well since I'm wondering about this. What is the best version of this film, as well as the remake? Thanks a lot!

The original is by far the best version, though a bit dated in the acting department. Still, you can see where Kubrick got most of his ideas for 'Paths of Glory'. In fact the battle scenes are a direct rip-off. The made-for-TV remake isn't bad. It's generally well cast and competently directed, but it can't compare to the original in terms of filmaking. The comments about the original dvd are valid. I have both versions myself.
