This will be my first Fellini film, and I know I should have bought it before but for some reason it never happened. However, how did you like this one and other films by Fellini, and what else is out there on DVD by Fellini.

8 1/2 is his best movie -- rumoured to be coming out by Criterion soon. Amarcord is very well directed but not overly interesting. The only Fellini movies I can recommend are 8 1/2 as being a good movie and Amarcord and Satyricon are so well-directed that they both warrant at least a viewing. If you're into the whole art thing and love movies just for great direction, it's worth springing for. Far better than all the other Fellinis put out by Criterion (which in my opinion are all pretty bad). Satyricon is coming out on DVD now, so you can pre-order if you act fast (it's a 19.99 MSRP disc).

Criterion did the same job on the Amarcord disc that they do on every one. Always graininess on the colour movies but aside from that not a badly produced disc by any means

I liked 8 1/2 a lot, but Amarcord was one of the most boring movies I've seen in my life. It is a movie without conflict. Directing was good.

Please don't tell me I didn't understand it. If I want real life, i can live it.

My thoughts on this can be found in an earlier thread discussing this film:
