Does anyone have this DVD? Is it anamorphic?

...the UK R2 (PAL) DVD is!

Excellent - if very grim - movie!

. . .

R1 is nonanamorphic. Fantastic, albeit disturbing film though. Get it anyway.

You don't exactly go out of your way to praise it..

I thought it was a good film - I wouldn't exactly think of it as the kind of film which one could "like".. but I don't know how many times I'd want to watch it, and thus whether it would be worth buying.

(oh, and afaik the r2 disc lacks some of the features -s cuh as the director's commentary, which are found on the r1 verion.. but then again I may be wrong)

That's because I didn't think it was that great. The acting was excellent but I'm not sure I saw the point of the film. It showed horrific acts but didn't really comment on them. I don't think that movies need to have morals but I'm not sure why Roth wanted to make this film. I'm also not sure why someone would want to own this film. It's not something you'd want to pop in from time to time. It is unremittingly bleak (which is not a bad thing) but it's missing something.
