Mr Beavise,

Clean Shaven is not so much the story of slipping into schizophrenia as it is a tour of schizophrenia. If it is possible to experience a hint of what insanity is like by watching a movie, then Clean Shaven will do it. This is not a fun or entertaining movie but it will leave its mark and linger in your mind long after you watch it.

I concur with the post above - this is a very gritty, often disturbing film about a man in deep trouble psychologically. No extras that I can remember on the dvd (it was a rental) but I sure do remember the film. Outstanding performance by the lead.

Peter Greene is the lead in the film and he's excellent. He's also in Pulp Fiction & Laws of Gravity.

BTW, for a thouroughly good one two schziophrenic knock out punch, Clean Shaven & Julien Donkey-Boy make an excellent twin bill.

cheers, Tony Block

I saw this on VHS so I can't comment on the quality of the DVD, but as for the film itself - I thought it was halfway decent. I didn't find it all that remarkable - I'd really suggest renting this one... if you're the type who likes to collect films on DVD that most people haven't heard of, then this might be a keeper. Some scenes in this reminded me of Pi, while much of the rest of the film seems to have been collected or borrowed from several hollywood films. I'd say it's worth watching for those who like movies of the film festival caliber. I am into low-budget indie films, but this one was not something I'd bother to see again. Outside of the main actor, the rest of the cast was worthless... the cop was comical. 5 out of 10... but perhaps I had higher hopes for this film since I had heard many good things about it.
