Although I am at work and can't really go into much detail,
I thought:

Sisters was great! Creepy, nightmarish, and you just gotta
love split screens! This is the same guy that did Mission
to Mars??? A big NO on that, IMHO.

Peeping Tom is a classic, but I think I love anything
Powell does. doh, dunno why I included this one, must have
confused your thread with another.

Element of the Crime: Great cinematography, but the story
really is lacking. I did enjoy it, but it is rather slow.
I wish people were this daring in major studio pictures.

7. The Harder They Come
8. Don't Torture a Duckling
9. Sisters
10. Ghost Dog (tie with) Go Go Second Time Virgin

From that review:

"...the transfer is immaculate."

That is hardly the case. While the transfer is fine and watchable, there are numerous flaws in the source material.

I really have to wonder about that review. The reviewer spends an entire paragraphy discussing Margot Kidder, but only spends ONE WORD to describe the entire DVD transfer. And that word is "immaculate". Webster definies that as (1) having no stain or blemish; (2) containing no flaw or error; (3) spotlessly clean. That definition doesn't even remotely apply to this DVD.

The DVD is actually quite good, but certainly not as described in that review.

I don't even think I'd call the transfer for Sisters "good" much less "immaculate". I gave it a "C-" for both picture and sound:

The Element of Crime was more impressive as both a movie and a DVD:

BTW, if anyone's interested, we maintain a special Criterion page on our site. It's frequently updated with both old and new titles. It's unlikely we'll ever have a complete archive of ALL the Criterion DVDs, but we're working on it!

No problem -- actually, it was a little self-serving as well... if you notice, the review of SISTERS is from me! ;)
