I would appreciate a quick review of these
three flicks,.....and if your bored I would also like recommendations for some more good samurai movies. I have come down with a serious case of 'I need more Seven Samurai'. I cannot believe I have never seen this movie until last week ..... I have seen the light http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif thanks [This message has been edited by Fromundacheese (edited November 26, 2000).] |

These films are excellent, but they're definitely not like The Seven Samurai. Of course, the incredible Toshiro Mifune plays Kikuchiyo in The Seven Samurai and Miyamoto Musashi in Samurai 1-3.
The Seven Samurai is a coherent story, with a clear challenge and tightly-written script. Although it features some very deep and interesting characters, the focus is on the conflict. Samurai 1-3 are three movies that follow the life and development of Miyamoto Musashi, the most skilled samurai of all time, through various challenges. These films are more of a character study; although the action scenes are very well-done, the script moves much more slowly and focuses on the lead character. They're both incredible movies, but it's questionable whether you'll love both or hate both together. - David Stein ------------------ Ever notice that professional female pool players are incredibly hot, but professional female bowlers look like bulldogs? Why is that? Its because bowlers are just ugly people, but then again so are pool players. You got me there http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif You really want perplexity how about female tennis players? [This message has been edited by Fromundacheese (edited November 26, 2000).] |
Sounds like the Samurai series is worth checking out if for nothing else to see some more of Mifune's work. Thanks [This message has been edited by Fromundacheese (edited November 26, 2000).] |
Fromundacheese
Love the name! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif In the restaurant that I used to work at, there was a dry-erase board with the names of the various specials of the day. Including Cheesecake. One day someone (? http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif) changed the name of said cheesecake from Praline to Fromunda. Having a waitress telling the specials and hearing "fromundacheesecake" is the funniest things ever!!!! |
Hello,
Here's a previous thread on this topic.... http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001477.html More detailed descriptions of each film were discussed there. |
