Hi all:

I just read the reviews on Amazon (see here) for the upcoming release of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and am curious to know if anyone else has seen these posts.

The reviewers claim that the video and sound quality are very poor. I'm not expecting anything better than TV quality of course. Can anyone confirm or deny these allegations?

"Oh great. That's all we needed. A Druish princess."

"Funny, she doesn't look Druish."

Two possible reasons:

1) The first 2 seasons of Buffy were shot on 16mm, wihch may account for some of the graininess.

2) NTSC->PAL conversion. Though Buffy is shot on film, it's not edited on film...and I could be wrong, but I believe the R2 DVDs are converted from NTSC to PAL, which drops the quality a bit too. I've read that the broadcasts and overseas VHS releases similarly suffer.

This is just what I've read elsewhere...haven't seen the discs myself, so I can't say for sure...

Those reviewers are from USA, so I doubt that Fox will screw up like that. I could be wrong.

Just wait for R2/R4 reviews from reputable review sites not anonymous reviewrs on amazon who talk out of their bums. I rarely rely on amazon reviews.
