I am more interested in the audio and video quality of this disc, but even more importantly, the movie itself. Never saw it but I am a big fan of Terry Gilliam.

Thanks,
Eric

If you're a Gilliam fan, you'll love it. It's a comedy, so don't expect the deep, deep storylines that Gilliam usually throws at us, but it does have his unique look and storyline. The audio and video are good (better than it's ever been), but don't expect a perfect DVD. The extras are good also... kind of wish they combined the 2 commentaries into one though.

Anyway, I love this disc!

"Pants" is correct - [b]Time Bandits[/i] includes one audio commentary, which features director Terry Gilliam, co-writer/actor Michael Palin, and actors John Cleese, David Warner and Craig Warnock.

Oatsdad, you rated the Video quality a C- and the Extras a C+. I was thinking of picking up this title too, but as I'm not too hot on commentaries anyway, would you suggest that I get the non-Criterion Anchor Bay version instead? How's the video and audio transfer on that one, does anyone know? If the quality is the same as the Criterion one (and I don't care for the extras) would it be more practical to go for this instead (it's $13 lower).

I can't comment directly on the other DVD because I haven't seen it. Frankly, I expect it'll look about the same; I think a lot of the flaws were from the source material. If you don't care about the extras, the movie-only disc is probably fine...
