Got a chance to take a look at Universal's work on the "Flintstones" sequel...er, I mean "prequel" to the first film that came out a few years ago. First, the movie: Not good. I'm watching the film completely amazed at the sets and props that probably a crew of 100's took an age to build. It looks like every last detail was looked at.

...And yet, the screenplay apparently was forgotten. It's an instance of "wasn't this supposed to be a comedy?" The material just isn't funny, and the few jokes during this 90 minute film are few and far between. It's not that the performers don't try - Mark Addy ("Full Monty") does a good job with Fred and Stephen Baldwin is impressive as Barney Rubble, but it's just not enough material for a full movie.

As for the DVD, Universal has provided a beautiful looking presentation; impressive image quality and good sound quality. Not many extras, the biggest of which is a 15 minute edition of U's usual "Spotlight On Location" features.
