I couldn't find anything in a search of the archives, so...
I picked this up at the CompUSA fire sale, but am unsure whether to try to trade/sell it to get something I really want (e.g., Seven Samurai Criterion, which wasn't at CompUSA) or watch the whole thing. So... would you recommend the movie? How are the extras (I'm a big extras fan)? If it helps, some of my favorite directors are John Sayles, Steven Soderbergh, Terry Gilliam, and Krystof Kieslowski. If it also helps, I've never seen any of Alex Cox's movies, including [*ducks*] Repo Man. Thanks. |
DO NOT, I repeat, NOT, sell this DVD.
Sid and Nancy is a great film and the Criterion DVD of it is great. Watch it, and if you connect with the film, treasure it. It's one of my favorites. |
I probably shouldn't comment as I haven't seen my CC disc yet of S&N. But, as for the movie... you definitely gotta see it before (if you ever do) trade it. First thing I'd seen Gary Oldman in, and he's just fantastic. It's a sad sad story. Maybe it's hard sometimes to feel sorry for a junkie, but I sure felt bad for Sid. If this movie was interesting to you, then definitely watch/rent/buy The Filth and the Fury, which came out this year. It's a documentary of what the Sex Pistols really were. Very interesting. I've never really been a punker, but it didn't matter, because the movie was great. |
I saw this when it first came out and remember really liking it. Then I saw it again a year ago and thought it was slow-paced and not as exciting as I had remembered. Gary Oldman is great, as usual, but thought it could have used a bit of editing. I'd recommend you rent it before you open your sealed one.
