I rented it a while ago, so my recollection may not be the best http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif, but the picture seemed pretty good, sound too (I only have a Pro-Logic reciever though). Not many additional features, I think there were cast bios and maybe a trailer.

Great movie, stupid movie-only (for the most part) DVD. Unless you really gotta have it I'd wait for the "upgrade" (provided they ever do one AFAIK nothings has bee announced yet http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif)

Tombstone is perhaps one of the greatest movies of all time. IMHO
Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday is fantastic. Can go on and on about it but I won't .. Just get it, you will not be disapointed

If you love westerns, you will love Tombstone!!! The audio and video were pretty decent on the dvd. I have it in my collection...definitely a keeper!!!

Val Kilmer is very good as Holiday, but the last half of the picture (everything after the OK Corral shootout) is so insidiously stupid it amazes me. Russell badly overacts several of the final scenes and the whole streamside shootout is just inconceivable.

No no-frills disc with good video and an active 2.0 surround audio track. If you like the film, get it.

Good film but the dvd needs redoing. It was
not anamorphic and had 2.0 sound only with
no extras to speak of. A real shame, it really desearves a better presentation. I'll
replace mine if a better release happens.

This is one of my favorite movies (not to be confused with a great movie). Lots of great one liners. At times it's very cool, at times it's pretty dumb, but overall I think it's a hoot. The male roles are all well cast, but every female role sucks. As often as not, I'll skip the "romantic" chapters. The DVD has nothing special going for it, aside from the movie, but it doesn't look bad at all, it's just not what you'd expect these days. If you like Silverado or Clint's old westerns, you ought to like this one. I got mine though Columbia House, well worth $8 and change.

“You gonna do somethin’, or just stand there and bleed?” George P. Cosmatos’ Tombstone (1993) is the product of careful thought and good balance. It combines much of the stark reality of the West while still maintaining its romantic allure and glossing over certain facts. Tombstone is fairly accurate, while still being very much a Hollywood film, something that Lawrence Kasdan’s Wyatt Earp did not accomplish. In fact, Tombstone has much the same feeling as Kasdan’s earlier Silverado.

Kurt Russell is perfectly capable as Wyatt Earp, but it is Val Kilmer’s Doc Holiday that steals the show. Kilmer, in his best performance ever, plays the dying gambler brilliantly. He certainly looks the part too! The grizzly Sam Elliot and the likable Bill Paxton are Wyatt’s brothers, while the enchanting Dana Delany plays the actress Josephine, Wyatt’s love interest. Powers Booth as Curly Bill Brocious, Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo, Billy Zane as a traveling thespian, Charlton Heston as rancher, Jason Priestley as a weak Cowboy, Billy Bob Thornton as a cowardly faro dealer, Robert Mitchum as the narrator, and numerous others round out the terrific all-star cast.

Video quality on this non-anamorphic 2.35:1 movie is very good, but colors are a bit oversaturated, and there is some grain in the darker, indoor scenes. The Dolby Surround soundtrack is one of the best of its kind, but this movie really deserves a proper Dolby Digital 5.1 release. Extras are limited to a trailer and a teaser. However, the content of the film makes up for these shortcomings. Tombstone is certainly an entertaining film that lacks nothing. Great cinematography, a terrific score, lots of action, and some of the wittiest dialog around superbly delivered by wonderful actors make Tombstone one of the best westerns and most entertaining films in the last fifteen years. I guarantee you’ll be watching it many times.
