Has anyone see the "Director" Documentry DVDs. I'd like to check them out. Are they worth it? Which ones are the best?

I have been very impressed with them so far... I've seen Ron Howard, Norman Jewison, and Terry Gilliam. (Steve Speilberg is on its way from 800.com.)

They have all been very interesting, with interviews not only with the directors themselves but also actors and other professionals they have worked with. You get a good sense of the entire career of a person, from first films through mid-to-late 1990s. There are a few film clips, but just enough to get a sense of their work -- they aren't used as filler or fluff.

I can definitely recommend these. As far as which one is the best, I suppose that depends on which directors you enjoy (as the quality seems to be consistent). Pick one that you like the most and give 'em a try...

If you like the director they are worth it. I've only picked up the Gilliam one so far. I'm not sure how often I'll watch it, but it makes a nice addition to that part of my collection http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
