This is an excellent movie - if you've not gotten a chance to pick this up, its worth looking at!

The picture is beautiful throughout the movie. Exceptional I daresay, considering this was one of those "filmed-in-real-time" documentaries where there's little opportunity to stage shots, etc. I don't have a good stereo, so I couldn't tell you about the DTS or Dolby...though it says it's in 'mono' on the back of the box.

This movie won Grand Jury prize at Sundance for a reason - its moving and inspiring to watch Mark the filmmaker try so hard despite the odds to make the movie he's wanted to make for most of his life. The extras are great - with commentary from the director, many deleted scenes, and the short film 'Coven' in its entirety.

In all - a movie someone should see.. but perhaps not for everyone to buy. Truely a gem though among all the independent films of late.

Another vote of confidence from me. American Movie is the most engrossing documentary I've ever seen. I would gladly have watched another 2 hours of Mark and Mike and uncle Bill. These three guys are incredibly funny without meaning to be!

Does this disc include Coven in its entirey? That would be a great extra and I think I saw it mentioned somewhere. That would be the deciding factor for me.

It does in fact have Coven on the disc along with like, 22 deleted scenes which are hilarious.

Awesome, awesome movie. And I am not just saying that because I know some of the crew...

Last weekend I got to meet Mark Borchardt and Mike Schank at a friend's video store. They were there all afternoon signing posters, DVD's, or anything else anyone wanted to get signed. I am glad I can say they still act exactly like they do in the movie. Even with all the promotional gigs they have done, they are a couple of the coolest guys I have met. They didn't have a schedule other than getting to Madison for the midnight show of American Movie, so they just hung out drinking beer (well, Mike was having Mountain Dew) from 2 until 5:30.

It is safe to say that everyone there had a blast.
