Which one of these is the better of the two? Thanks for the input.

I have Avia. It works great, explains everything, and does a great job of setting up your system. I have heard that Avia is more user-friendly than VE.

Avia also has a better audio setup and doesn't require your player to output 0 IRE (or a black image) to calibrate the video.<center>

I own and use Video Essentials, but from everything I have heard, if I had to do it all over again, I would go with Avia. It's just too much of a pain to get to the chapters you want with VE.

Yeah, I was disappointed with the user-unfriendliness of Video Essentials. I haven't tried Avia, but as another option, consider Ultimate DVD: Platinum. I found it much easier to use and more comprehensive than VE.
