I was thinking about buying the DVD but I'd like some info about it before deciding. I really really like the movie, but I don't know how the DVD transfer and sound would be. How many extras are on it and does anyone know if there are plans for a Special Edition release of this movie?

This is one title I dont have for some reason. But I remember reading a review in a magazine some time ago and they said the transfer was really good. I dont think it has any extras, maybe a trailer, if that.

The transfer is really good. Has Full Frame, and Widescreen (believe it's anamorphic.) This is one of my favorite movies, and can be had for a low price. I believe it's one of the 19.99 titles that can be easily obtained through Columbia House

The transfer is decent. Unfortunately, there are no extras at all....not even a trailer! Still, if you like the movie (I love it) you'll probably want the DVD. I highly doubt that there will be a special edition.

This title needs a new release. Love the film but the DVD is terrible...
The transfer, which may have been fine in 1999, looks awful... I have a 36" 4X3, I can only imagine what this must look like on a nice 16X9. There's "shimmering" (for lack of a better word) ??? all over this one. Anything in frame that is not a solid color exhibits this "shimmer". The sound is fine... 2.0. No extras at all. |
The transfer is quite good when played back over a 16x9 television. The shimmering that was mentioned is nonexistent,
played back with a Pioneer Elite DV-37, progressive scan player. I would have to agree that the chances of a SE of this title is slim to none. As far as the Cohen brothers are concerned, this title is a must for any fan. Run out and pick up this title. You will not be disappointed. |
This is one that I wish the Coen brothers would go back and invest some time into and make a great SE DVD. That's the only reason I don't own it yet. Just the domain name. ;)

Definately a must buy since this can be had for about 14.99 at most B&Ms. Good transfer, ok sound, but absolutely great movie!

Around 18 months ago I found it at a B&M somewhere for $7.99 so I grabbed it. I had seen parts of it, but mainly got it for Bruce Campbell's small role...
