I noticed the Theatrical version DVD of Dawn is letterboxed at 1.66 or therebouts. Supposedly the correct ratio. However, the LD from Elite is letterboxed at 1.85. After doing a side by side comparison, the LD had more information on the sides of the frame as well as being more vibrant in color. The DVD on the other hand, is clearer and sharper. Anyone else notice this?

Isnt the LD contains wealth of stuff that the DVD doesnt have? Still I always stick to Anchor Bay, but thats my preference!

The expensive LD Box Set of Dawn of the Dead from Elite has a ton of stuff on it (radio spots, trailers both domestic and International and a commentary with Tom Savini, George Romero, and Christine Forrest, etc.) but the regular release has just a theatrical trailer.

I'd read in an interview that Romero had composed his films for full frame (1.33:1) up until Creepshow. I suppose in this case a LBX matting was more for gimmick's sake than to preserve the film's integrity.
