I am wondering if anyone has seen The Muse and would recommend it.

Will apple retailers in third world countries start selling pcs?
Will this lewinsky finsky help boost the sales of windows when linux is for free?
Will my findings help people not let their remote controllers fall and break?
Will my song, this same one, stop my enemies from getting awake?

I'd recommend it, but not very highly. It all depends on how much you like Albert Brooks. I happen to think that Brooks may very well be the funniest man alive. However, "The Muse" is a bit uneven. It starts off good, but kind of falls apart about half way through. Andie McDowell, in a role that requires very little, gives one of her worst performances to date (and that's saying a lot considering what a terrible actress she is). Sharon Stone is passable. And Albert Brooks is....well, he's Albert Brooks. The movie also features very funny cameos by Martin Scorsese and James Cameron and a forgettable one by Rob Reiner. I'll be picking this up on DVD tomorrow, so I should have more to say about it then. Basically, if you like Albert Brooks, you'll like "The Muse", but it's still a bit disappointing when compared to his other films. Let's hope that someone finally decides to release the rest of his work on DVD...and would it be too much to ask for a commentary?

Rent this one 1st. It's not the kind of comedy with these great one liners and jokes that keep the replay value up. I can't imagine watching it again. It was OK the 1st time, but I'll leave it at that.

DVD Talk Legend
Talk about digging up an old thread... Anyhow, I just saw this on my TW40X81... There is a serious visual problem with this DVD: The brightness of the picture will vary constantly. I'm talking on frame will look super-bright, and then the next (on the same scene) will suddenly darken. This happens over and over again. I really thought my TV was about to die on me. It looks like some sort of really, really wierd MPEG artifacting.. Ahh well, at least I got to see Sharon Stone's behind.
