As far as the movie goes, it wasn't very good. It's advertised as a serial killer movie, but it's really about a group of uninteresting characters with uninteresting problems. Good dancing in it, but that's about it.

It`s quite good, actually. If you`re a Spike Lee fan, I think you`ll like it. It wasn`t advertised as a serial killer film. It was advertised as what it is: a film about the lives of some New Yorkers with the Son of Sam killings as a backdrop. Great use of music throughout (especially The Who). I wouldn`t count it among Lee`s very best, but it`s still a fine effort and very well done. Also a nice transfer.

I'll weigh in with the don't-bother crowd on this one. The movie revolves around A) marital problems between a cheating husband and frustrated wife and B) a witch hunt for the serial killer which is actually quite dull. The sequences involving David Berkowicz are interesting, but too few and sparse to save this movie.

This is probably the worst Spike Lee "joint" I've seen but still I think it's a average and not a "bad" movie but I think he has a lot of other movies that put this one to shame including "Do The Right Thing" for example. Thank God Criterion will be doing that one...his best work that I've seen IMHO

The bane of my existence monetary wise

I like Spike Lee, even though he is inconsistent, but he is usually interesting. This, however, ranks with 'Girl 6' as a rare total misstep for him. Rent it, don't buy it.
