I'm talking about the 1981 directoral debut of Jean-Jacques Beineix. If you haven't seen it, you should consider renting the tape. A very hip, stylish thriller.
The Fox Loerber transfer has the worst audio I have ever heard on a DVD. It is SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than an average VHS transfer. So even if you loved this movie (as I did), stay away from the Fox Loerber DVD. A guy at my video store told me that Criterion used to have this as a LD. Has anyone heard anything about a Criterion version of this movie? I'd love to see them release a decent quality DVD... |
Thanks. I was about to buy this, and then I checked your review..

There was a post a bit back that said that this movie was getting a better transfer later this year. Hold out! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Also on a side note, there has been word out of Hollywood that this movie is getting redone, and will star Will Smith, and Whitney Houston! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/mad.gif Oh, the HORROR! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/mad.gif ------------------ -verbal "I hope we never lose sight of one thing, that this was all started by a mouse." -Walt Disney The reason my DVD player was the "most expensive" gift I've ever received. |
Anchor Bay is doing a reissue of this title sometime later in the year. Avoid the Fox Lorber version and get the new one in 6 months or so...
