Hous On Haunted Hill '99

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
Saw the dvd the other day - I thought the movie was very well done, suspenseful and scary in places, and interesting...I don't watch too many horror flicks tho. I didn't find it as stylish as the haunting, but I think HOHH was the better movie. The video and audio are both top notch, and the dvd includes lots of extras, including some deleted scenes (with a whole new character not seen in the movie previously).

I enjoyed the movie. However, I was far more interested in the maniac doctor from the beginning of the flick ... who never really showed up later. But I thought Geoffrey Rush did an excellent job channeling Vincent Price.
*cryptic spoiler ahead*
Where I felt the movie failed -- which is often the case in horror -- was the ending. The Mango-as-Casper to the rescue was much-o lame.
William Castle's original film is definately worth checking out, regardless of how you felt about the remake. It's an excellent disc. So is The Tingler.
