Already own the re-released VHS version, which seemed very overexposed and washed out. Wondering if anyone purchased the DVD, and if it is any sort of improvement.

I'd buy a DVD copy of it, since your VHS copy could be eaten by your friends VCR like mine was. I now have a copy of the movie that will only be destroyed by some serious work and not a cheap machine that was in desperate need of repair.

There's nothing spectacular about the DVD version of Destroy All Monsters. There is no chapter index or any special features. I got my copy at MyFamily.com for about $5 otherwise its not worth it.

:-)

Yeah it's no big deal(the dvd) but why not replace your VHS?

At least the dvd willhave a longer shelf life.

Again, I will say it.

There's NO RESPECT for the KAIJU GENRE.

The dvd's are halfassed and offer little in terms of extras and 5.1 sound...this sucks.

Toho or Columbia needs to pay more attention to these films.

Haven't seen the tape, but the DVD is widescreen and looks rather nice for a movie over 30 years old. The lack of any menus or even chapter stops is annoying, but you can pick this up for free at CD Universe ($8.99 - $10.00 coupon), which is not a bad price. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif
