I would really like to order the special edition DVD of Silverado, however I heard that neither the first release nor the second were in the correct aspect ratio. Could someone please tell me if this is true?

Well, imdb.com lists the correct aspect ratio as 2.35. So, assuming that is correct, then the DVD is correct because it's in 2.35.

BTW, this is a stunning DVD. Silverado has never looked (or sounded) better. It's simply amazing. This has to be the best restoration of a 1985 movie I have seen. It looks (and sounds) like it was filmed last year. One of the best 5.1 remixes I have ever heard. Makes Tombstone (which was made in the mid-90s) look stupid.

The first pressing was mistakenly framed at 1.85:1. Subsequent printings have the correct 2.35:1 ratio. By now, most copies you come across, especially if you buy online where the inventory turns over faster, should be the new version.

Synchronicity: I just watched Silverado last night. I got it cheap back when Tower had it mispriced - although it took forever to get, it was worth it. This is definitely a disk that I'd pay the usual (online) price for. The transfer is very good, the colors are nice, and there wasn't an artifact to be seen. My sound system is wimpy, so I can't evaluate the 5.1 track. The movie itself is very good, although a little lighter in tone and atmosphere than Unforgiven, with which it often gets compared. A keeper, definitely.
