Did anyone see the movie in the cinema. How is it. Is it worth buying the DVD Collectors Edition?

I'd say storywise, it's the best traditional style Disney since Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Alladin. In my opinion, the rest since then have been between mediocre to stinkers.

Tarzan is a fun movie with lots of great schtick. The animation of the characters, especially facial expressions, are some of the best I've seen from Disney. The drawbacks to the movie are the CGI stuff. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! So out of place are those vines, branches, and pools of water that they totally take me out of immersion from the movie. At least there aren't a bunch of singing cutesy animals trying to fill out a soundtrack CD with useless songs. Very good but not great movie, IMHO.

I enjoyed movie. It's not a great movie for real little ones, but I like it because my daughter 3yrs will stay with it for awhile and it's a movie my wife and I enjoyed. I like the animation and extras so if you are into that stuff it will be a good one. Disney is starting to understand what extras are on a dvd. It was nice to see some letterbox on a few I.E Hurcules and Mermaid movie.

best animated movie by di$ney since The Lion King. (not counting pixar's stuff) It's not boring like hercules, mulan, & hunchback.

No flame here. I agree, it was a fun movie!

I thought it was average. Whole plot was just more predictable Disney, but it did have some nice animation sequences

There is one useless song sequence, the "trashing the camp" number thrown in to appease Rosie McDonalds. This is the first title where "Chapter Search" will be true "feature" so I can FF past that POS song. Other than that, I loved Tarzan. Oh, and I loved Mulan too.

My DVD list

Borrowed my friend's regular edition. For the record I like Little Mermaid, Beauty and Beast, Aladdin, and to a lesser degree Lion King and Hercules. Didn't like Pocahontas, Hunchback, or Mulan (unlike most people) at all.

The animation in Tarzan was pretty spectacular and I liked parts of the story and character development when it got serious, like when he fought the (non-talking) leopard, but it seemed like everytime they got serious for a minute, the spell had to be broken with loud-mouth baby-voice Rosie doing something stupid a la Jar Jar. Guess the short attention span of kids dictates that everything has to do that nowdays. The Phil Collins music is awful in that mock-sincere way that Elton John is, and it does not mesh at all with the locale or the decade the story takes place.

I had already pre-ordered the SE with a $20 Reel Tosiba coupon when shipping was free and now with the price reduction refund it will be totally free . I'm probably going to sell mine on eBay without even opening it.
