Non-anamorphic transfer. Looks like the source was the same one used for the laserdisc and it's really quite bad. The picture is soft and faded looking. I'm not speaking from an extreme quality freak POV here - I thought the rehashed transfers on the early FOX discs were just fine. But Navy Seals just looks bad. Honestly, it could be confused with a mediocre LD or even SVHS tape! That's a shame, as there are some huge sets and action scenes that would've looked great given a quality video presentation.
The audio is only 2 channel stereo, but on the plus side it's very loud and clear. A tad harsh sounding, but the gun sound fx were great. No notable extras. This should be a budget release, not listing for $29.99. However, if you're a fan of the movie, it's still the best quality presentation possible, so what can you do? I don't think there's enough demand for this movie to warrant a remastering. |
Ooooooh! Navy Seals!!
