This is an older movie.. How is the transfer, etc? Thanks

I'm usually not too picky about the video quality (as long as it doesn't look like a 10yr old VHS http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif ) so take this with a grain of salt... The transfer (both video and audio) was pretty good IMHO. It's a standard Universal CE so it's packed with features. Since I haven't watched any of them yet though I can't comment on them http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/frown.gif If you like this movie though I would recommend the DVD. If you sort of like the movie then wait until a sale, or do what I did and get someone to buy it for you http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Not a good film transfer a lot of grain or snow as you would call it when watching certain TV channels.

Though the film may show the occasional signs of grain, this is a far better transfer of this film than has ever appeared on home video before--in fact, it's the first time THE LAST STARFIGHTER has ever appeared in letterboxed form, a fact which director Nick Castle professes happiness with on the informative commentary track. There is also a too short, but highly interesting, "making of" documentary titled "Crossing the Frontier" which details the then-groundbreaking visual effects, and it is of particular interest to STAR WARS fans since it features some never-before-seen computer graphics test footage of X-Wings in flight. Add to the mix the theatrical teaser and trailer and you've got another pretty nice piece of work from Universal's Collector's Edition library. Definitely recommended.
