i don't have the DVD with me so the following notes are from memory.
the video transfer itself looked fine, but the film's original 2.35:1 scope is here letterboxed to 1.85:1 (non-anamorphic). the image is also raised for video generated (but non-removable) subtitles in the bottom matted area. Fox Lorber appeared to have been over-ambitious with the choice of a serif font, and it anti-aliases poorly to the 4-level opacity available for DVD subtitles. the result sometimes flickers and just plain looks bad.
the Dolby 2.0 soundtrack is natural and otherwise unremarkable.
in all, the premium retail price ($35 MSRP) for this DVD is of dubious merit. it bears an interesting amalgamation of compromises and hacks that nonetheless remains watchable, rentable, and just maybe keepable.
