Even though the movie sucks, is the DVD worth getting for the sound and the extras?

I have this disc and after all is said and done, incredible transfer, fab sound, many extra's, one is still faced with a miserable film.

I'm still debating on this one . . . saw the movie at the theater and was disappointed. The transfer, sound, and extras of the DVD are great, though . . . right??? The low price and Salma Hayek are also very tempting . . . this DVD should transfer well in my home theater . . . what should I do???

I havent gotten yet this disc and I show no interest. Thats odd. Maybe because I am not too much into cowboy stuff..although I do like Clint Eastwood. I think I will get Jack Frost instead..yeah....yuup!

Perhaps it is just me, but why would you get a DVD of a movie that you think is horrible? Just because of a good transfer and good sound? A good transfer and sound only ENHANCE a movie, they can't make it better. If you hate the movie, why buy the DVD, there are plenty of good to great movies out there to buy instead (although I am sure some of you already have all of those!).

Getshorty . . .

You have to realize that most of us go through extreme withdrawal symptoms when we do not order a DVD for a long period.

In addition, it's hard to pass up a "A" quality DVD for around $5 shipped!!! You are definitey right, though, a good DVD cannot make a movie that much better . . . that's why I passed on "Wild Wild West".

Wild Wild West is absolute garbage. Anyone who spends more than a dollar on this is nuts. Who cares about the sound and picture if the movie is bad?!?! There are plenty of good movies with great picture and sound. Save your money for something else.

Sorry if I offended anybody.

Well I haven't seen this movie yet but I did buy it for my son. He's 5 give him a break okay? Anyway, after reading about Salma's skin I'll definitely watch it with my son.

fuzzy, don't rent it either! That's way too much to spend on a crappy movie like this.

I had the chance to get the disc for *free* but, it's such an absolutely horrid film, I couldn't even imagine wasting a good coupon on a free copy of a gut wrenching film. It's not even worth a rental.

(shudder) I don't know what Kevin Kline was thinking, but don't get this movie. I've only seen bits and pieces, but that's enough to know when to run... If you want an impeccable transfer and a great movie and extras to boot, get A Bug's Life Deluxe Ed.

I bought this for $15 over at COSTCO and from what I skipped through this film looks funny. The shot of the Asian girl's ass on the desk alone was worth the price of the dvd and Salma's.....oh my!

I think some of yuze guyz are to hard on flicks. If you want Citizen Kane then go rent it...ON VHS!!!!

UPDATE

I saw it and I liked it. I don't see what all the hubbub is about.

Giantrobo.... I agree. These others are too difficult to please.

It's a popcorn flick, cheap and mildly entertaining. Selma & the asian chick make for nice eye candy. The extras on the DVD are good with a couple of really good videos included. I'm happy to have it in my collection.

My wife and I never saw it in the theatres, even though we wanted to.

But when we saw the ad in K-mart for $9.99, we went and picked it up.

I was expecting a completely horrible movie... but it was entertaining nonetheless.

The commentary with 'ol Barry Sonnefeld was funny... he's such a wierd guy! But there were some good lines.

The music videos that are includes -- Wild Wild West and Balimos -- are worth it.

The rest of the features make up for the so-so movie.

If you can get it for $10 or less go for it.

(We actually picked up more than one... $10 Christmas presents what a good deal!)

Dumbest movie Ive ever owned and dumb fun is what its all about.Too bad Men In Black isnt on DVD to prove that Sonnenfeld is a fairly decent director.Id definitely trade this suck hard for the 'Godzilla' suck hard from Roland and Dean..anyone interested?

I have to disagree with the majority on this one. I actually thought that the movie was very good. I loved all of the steam driven gadgets!
