The transfer is fairly clean is but unfortunately non-anamporphic. It is also quite soft looking compared to a good non-anamporphic disc like 'Something about Mary'. Oh well, at least it has good color saturation and appears noise free. The disc has 6 channel Italian/English audio and english subtitles. The only extra is a 'making of life is beautiful' feature. If I was rating the video quality on a scale of 1 to 5, I would give it a 3.5

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I watched the Chinese version DVD of this film when it was released during the summer (it was all regions) and you talk about Disney hosing you? On the Chinese disc, the picture was soft, the documentary was just some sloppy behind the scenes footage with no narration (Chinese/Italian/English/or otherwise), the picture began in widescreen, but after the titles, it went to full frame. Damn, I was pissed. Glad I only rented it. (It did have 5.1 Dolby sound.) (And "no" this was not a bootleg.)
