I just got the 4-disk Alien Legacy set from Mass Music. I'm restraining myself from zipping thru each disk for the extra goodies, so I've only seen Alien, so far.
It sounds like a good audio transfer, but the video is somewhat grainy even on my PC monitor. It has several extra scenes, some of which are good, isolated score, commentary by director Ridley Scott (I've only listened to part of this but it's very interesting), and of course one of my 10 favorite sci-fi films ever! It also has 3 easter eggs including Ash's report on the Alien's life-cycle and background on each of the crew members. I don't remember where I found those, but I can post them if there's any interest. I'll post more reviews later on. [This message has been edited by pleides (edited 09-16-1999).] |
I just watched Aliens with my brother. I'll never watch it on VHS again.
The added scenes are incorporated into the movie, seamlessly, and add a lot. It's easier to understand Ripley's selfless concern for Newt, what happened to Newt's family, etc. 17 add'l minutes, most of which shouldn't have been cut to begin with. The interview with James Cameron is good, and the behind-the-scenes look at the special effects was worth watching, too. Now, who wants to buy a well-used VHS copy? |
