Hi,

I really like the movie "4 weddings & a funeral". I've been thinking about getting the DVD.
Any reviews as yet and is it anamorphic?

Thanx.

Well, the US version is NOT anamorphic, and I thought there was some film grain or some degradation in the quality of the film, but nothing terrible. Not reference quality, but it didn't distract me from enjoying the movie. The sound is in 2.0 Dolby Surround. And I heard crowd noises from the rears and thought that overall, the sound did a nice job of enveloping you in the movie.

The menu was fun, but they might have used the animations more extensively.

Also, they could have included a few more extras on the disk.

However, I believe this title has been discontinued until later this year when a new studio will be rereleasing it. There are still copies around (I just received mine from Checkout today).

I thought the packaging was a little cluttered, but the insert, while seeming a little sparse, did include some nice tidbits of trivia. Also, in my copy, there was a coupon booklet from www.tieknot.com and a contest to win $10,000 in jewelry.

The UK version of the movie IS anamorphic, but it's also a flipper. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

Ultimately, I say it's a buy. This movie is just too funny. I haven't seen it in awhile and some of the bits just had me laughing out loud. This is Hugh Grant at his best and he has a wonderful supporting cast around him.
If you like sweet slightly off kilter romantic comedies then this is definitely for you.

Actually, MGM is the new owner of this film, and it was re-released on Sep 07. From what I hear, it is the same disk as what PolyGram had. Same transfer (which means, NOT anamorphic and Dolby Surround).

A question

I am the owner of TieKnot.com
I have never permitted anyone to use my name and image in a DVD or anything else. And I am very surprised with your message.
Thus I have 2 questions:
- How can they use my website in your DVD ?
- Is Tieknot linked to a contest to win $10,000 in jewelry ? (Because I never set up such a contest !) ?
Thank you in advance for an explaination.

This was almost 6 years ago, and, I'm guessing, was done by the previous owner of the tieknot.com url. If you owned it back then, then my mistake, but I was just posting what I found in the DVD. I'm pretty sure I threw it away soon after making the above post, so I can't give you any more information than that.

Tokyony, do you visit random message boards all day and use their search engines to see if anyone's talking about you... hoping to find a SIX YEAR OLD message?

The website had to have had something to do with the movie (well, of course since the DVD said there was a contest there): weddings/tying the knot. Remember when peta.org was People Eating Tasty Animals?
