She's All That
My Fair Lady in a late 90's high school. Perhaps Beverly Hills 90210 meets Cinderella? We already know the story, but were the characters appealing? mostly, the ones that were supposed to be were and the ones that weren't, weren't. Was I entertained? It was an innocuous way to kill a couple of hours. The prom did feature a well choreographed dance scene and the music was good. I do agree with film critic Roger Ebert when he said that just for once he'd like to see this film done with the Eliza Doolittle character a truly unnattractive woman. Rachel Leigh Cook was gorgeous even with the ugly glasses and the bad hairdo. |
Nick- It doesn't seem to be a very popular opinion around here, but I liked it too. Matt Lillard was hillarious. The film was a lightweight, but it never tried to be something it wasn't (i.e. it didn't take itself too seriously). I'm easily wooed by a cute face (Rachel Leigh Cooke cn trash my kitchen with a frying pan any time... http://www.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif), though, and have been known to overlook major flaws in dumb films as a result. That being said: duuuuuuh, i liked it!

I actually enjoyed it also. I will enjoy it more if those morons at Buena Vista exchange my DVD HASSLE-FREE for the proper 5.1 soundtrack that I thought i was paying for the first time around!
