In this Legendary pairing of Rock Hudson and Doris Day, The two share a party line, something that doesn't exist anymore and for those younger viewers means a telephone line share by 2 or more homes or parties. Anyway Doris is an interior decorator who oftimes needs to use the phone for business which is made difficult by the lacivious Rock who is constantly tying up the phone line with his amorous calls to a myriad of attractive ladyfriends each of whom he serenades with the same song (he's a broadway songwriter by profession) changing only the name. Doris can't stand Rock although she's never actually seen him and Rock thinks she's a prude having never seen her. Unbeknownst to either they are seated next to eachother at a restaurant one evening where Rock discovers her true identity and seeing how attractive she is, decides to woo her but it can't be as himself because she hates him. It is here that he comes up with the idea of posing as a wealthy Texan named Rex Stetson. Everything goes along fine for him until she discovers the truth and then...

The video quality and the sound are top notch for an older film. Excellent transfer, i've never seen this film look or sound so good.

Nick, you're absolutely correct. It's a fabulous transfer for a movie this old. It is significantly better than LD.

I have to agree with both of you. I've never seen it on laserdisc, but the DVD is excellent for an older movie. You have to overlook a few scratches on the print that they mastered it from, but that is mainly at the beginning and the sound is actually better than many newer films! This story holds your attention (with Rock's pretending to be someone else to fool Doris) and the humor is very good. I hope they release some of the other Day/Hudson parings on DVD.
