I watched La Bamba last night & I was left totally amazed. Amazed at the quality of the transfer & also amazed at a great movie that I had seen before in P&S on TV or HBO. This film in its 16X9 enhanced version was a whole new movie to me!!! I saw things that I never remembered seeing before! This film was made originally for $6 million yet made over $100 million world-wide! It is still the highest gross rock bio of all times and also the highest grossing Latino based film ever!
It also has some GREAT extras. 2 documentary tracks, bios, trailers and a making of short!
I recommend this disk to every one regardless of whether you liked Richie Valens music or not!!
Involved in the making of this DVD include the following: Brian Setzer, Carlos Santana, Brian Adams, Bo Diddley, Dick Clark, & Rick Dees to name a few.
Also for those who are interested in the factual artifacts of what occured on "The Day the Music Died" VH-1 is running a great 90 minute special on this with details of The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Richie Valens with some interviews with Lou Diamond Phillips, Gary Busey, and Waylon Jennings (who missed taking the flight that fatefull night).
This movie is an delightful factual story of family & dreams!!
