Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

I've never seen this, so I'm looking forward to watching it today.
ETA: I really liked this one. The bibliophile angle was right up my alley, and the serial killer aspect gave it a nice little mystery feel. "No one will believe me" movies can get frustrating, but I didn't feel that way with this one. Good cast. The ending was a little deux ex machina, but then, they are fictional characters. I give it 3.5/5 stars.

Pastiche in the best possible way I Madman is one zany film that perfectly balances horror and comedy. Its a gimmick in search of a plot but feels like an honest laugh, haunted house style popcorn fun. The soundtrack goes a long way in balancing horror and cartoonish vibes. Odd to make a film metaphor for for how absorbing books can be but I suppose that shows progress of entertainment mediums. Randall William Cook, who is apparently primarily a visual effects artist, does a great job as the doctor. The sketch artist segment was brilliantly deadpan. The evolving appearance of the doctor was a creative touch.

I was surprised when I saw the release date on this...1989. I was 16 and this was right in my wheelhouse, yet I have never seen it or even heard of it. I was pretty excited to check this out after I read a quick synopsis and saw the main dude from Just One Of The Guys was in it.
So I was pretty disappointed how slow and dull this was. I mean...it was passable but not something I would want to rewatch. Just left me with the feeling of...eh.
My rating: ** out of *****

I have the German blu of this movie, and it's goes by the name of Hardcover. First time watching it, and I felt a bit underwhelmed by it. She's so captivated by these books, but I just couldn't help but laugh when the voice-over would come and 'read' from the book. Just not in the right frame of mind for this one. This had that 'Charles Band' type of music track that had me completely uninterested.

Jenny Wright and the film noir aspect helped this movie a bit: I liked the scene in the apartment when Jenny walked off camera and returned as the book character -- simple but effective. The monster reminded me of the demon in The Gate and sure enough both movies had same director, Tibor Takács. '80s horror is fun to revisit and I enjoyed it.
My big question for this movie is... Mobys' Dick? Was that intentional or a typo?
