These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.
The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.
Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

The Xray of the knife shoved into the girls pelvis is pretty gruesome - nicely gorey without being bloody. I think part of the reason What Have You Done With Solange is so slow going is that there is only the hint of violence at first, it's a more tender giallo with "lovers" rather than anything especially blunt even as the murders take on a sexual aspect there are leering shots of showing schoolgirls but quick glimpses of the violence. Now a days horror films would start with an especially brutal hook, and not hint at it as this does here. The flash of a blade is much more poetic. Everyone in this film is so stylish, it makes me feel even more like a slob and elevates a lot of the scenes.
I wonder how much a sign of it's time it is that abortion (or rather emotional side effects?) would be a catalyst. There's a strange mix of sexual liberation and over exaggerated cautionary tale. Quit preaching, Solange [abortion can be quite a serious issue, but seems shameless to take this approach].
Overall I enjoyed Solange.

Classic Giallo with an ample amount of sleazy elements. Good story, well acted.

I haven't seen this in years (wow, probably 15 years ago...), but I remember really liking it. I actually remember it as one of my favorite giallos. Very excited to (hopefully) watch it again tonight!

Definitely a top giallo. Good mystery, plenty of lurid elements. It's amazing how triggering abortion is even today.

One of my favorite giallos. I watched this, which I'd seen before, along with What Have They Done To Your Daughters?, which I hadn't. Solange is definitely superior. But both felt very contemporary in theme, with QAnon and the Epstein ring and all the #MeToo stuff. The idea of young girls involved in secret prostitution is also quite popular right now in mystery/thriller books. I've read several recently. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Slow going at first but it picked up. I thought that highlighting the knife was effective too but I found myself thinking contemporarily like the killer ordered a set of those knives via some Amazon deal.

And I see now I posted my Destroy All Monsters comments here. Oops. Maybe it's because I was hoping what traumatized Solange would have happened to poor Minilla.
