Attending a theatrical showing allows you to obtain a bonus entry. If you missed a day, this means you can still check off the subset list as being complete.

The same goes for attending a live event such as a horror convention, haunted house, play, ghost tour, etc. You have one.

These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.

The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.

Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.

Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

Re: "Theatrical / VOD / Virtual Cinema Showing" Reviews/Discussion - 2020 Horror Challenge: Bonus Day

For the September portion of my Horror Challenge checklist, I saw New Mutants. Had heard negative things on comic sites, so went in trying to think of it as just a little horror film and not based on the comics I read back in the day. On that level it wasn’t too bad. Would have felt cheated if I paid full price, but Regal Unlimited makes it easier to appreciate average movies.

Hubie Halloween has Halloween spirit to spare and with high production values - no telling how much money Netflix is throwing at Adam Sandler and his surprisingly enduring oddball sense of humor (actually there's probably a reports of how much, but I don't want to know). I love how each scene is oozing Halloween comedically down to a local diner. I watched this with my 9 year old son and I'm now afraid he might be an Adam Sandler fan (but might be a good age for the humor). The swiss army Thermos stuff was funny and there were a few scenes that make us chuckle. Overall - Hubie Halloween was fun but it's the Halloween special we deserve and not the one we need right now. Maybe if Adam Sandler could quit ending up in Adam Sandler movies - the intentionally wooden mumbling is tiresome quickly and his self-depretiating humor often falls because he is such a ham here.

Saw the mediocre Shortcut for the October part of the checklist here. Hopefully it’s not the last film I ever see in a theater.
