These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.

The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.

Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.

Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

Well, that's a pleasant title. Fun for the whole family!

Opening credits, director of photography, Dick Bush. Did I get tricked into choosing a soft core film?

I love this movie. I saw it maybe 4-5 years ago, but I was happy to watch it again on blu ray. Folk horror is one of my favorite sub-genres, so this is right up my alley. Nice historical setting. It really makes you care about the characters before killing them. The "devil's skin" was a nice touch.

One of the best rural horror films, I think. Not a patch on Wicker Man but good all the same.

It took a while to peak my interest but the strangeness with the children and increasing paranoia hooked me in. The claw and skin stuff was odd, and I think what really got me was the stillness of the children clan and after the woodshed 'murder.' The judge character didn't believe them then showed up just in time to save the day.

Where did you find this on Blu-ray? I really enjoyed it and would be interested in owning it, but I couldn't find a region 1 release.

I bought it on ebay. Region A/B/C. It was this one:

Looks like Amazon UK has it too:

By the way, Chad, I love seeing all the vintage posters!

Really enjoyed this one, although it seemed a bit scattered at times. I’m tempted to pick up the BD for the supplements, but can wait for a slightly better price.

Got this for a really good price from Zavvi about a year ago (it's just over 9GBP now). I'm glad it was on Prime, as I was unable to find my blu. I saw this movie last year, but didn't realize it until I recognized that guy who looks like Roger Daltrey. Nice atmosphere and visuals.

Interesting effort from the short lived Tigon films , who , along with Amicus, tried to produce their own gothic horror films to compete with Hammer.

I always liked this film, but i grew up watching stuff like this.
