Attending a theatrical showing allows you to obtain a bonus entry. If you missed a day, this means you can still check off the subset list as being complete.
The same goes for attending a live event such as a horror convention, haunted house, play, ghost tour, etc. You have one.

These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.

The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.

Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.

Spoiler tags are unnecessary in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF SPOILERS.

Really looking forward to Ouija, Tusk and The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Hope to get to all of those in the cinema and possibly more.

There's a double-bill on Oct. 29 and 30th of Universal Classic Horror films at Cineplex Theatres in Canada. Great chance to see The Wolfman and The Mummy on the big screen.

I couldn't wait for October to arrive to go see Tusk. It was highly enjoyable, with a surprising (at least to me, having read nothing about it in advance) and hilarious Inspector Lapointe! I recommend it.

It's really surprising to see this many movies appearing at theaters. In the past, horror movies were just one and done in previous Octobers. Might get to do a matinee for Annabelle this friday.

Pretty much agree with your review. I thought one of the positives of the movie was seeing the origin involving the "Birth" of Annabelle. Since that scene was unexpected, it ended up causing the most suspense of the movie for me. Unfortunately, that was way early in the movie and a bunch of cliche'd stuff soon followed. Despite that, I do recommend this for a cheap matinee.

Saw a trailer for Honeymoon today and it looked potentially decent.

Wife indulged me by attending a viewing of Dracula Untold with me today.

The most horrific part of the afternoon was the $19 movie ticket price. That's one ticket, and that's the matinee price. Holy crap. Now I know why I stopped going to theaters.

Had a day off work so spent it at the movies.

I enjoyed Annabelle more than I expected...
Spoiler:
It was refreshing to see them not jump to killer doll jump scares, the subtely in handling the doll was refreshing. I loved the idea of it acting as an lifeless anchor for demons rather than an entity itself. The cult killing origin seemed like a cop-out. The storage floor scene was good, but didn't she run upstairs rather than downstairs to get from floor 7 to floor 5? Also it was unintentionally funny that the Annabelle doll was so much bigger than the others in that line with the comment "she fits right in."

Dracula Untold seemed like a promising start to a classic monster reboot line. Not scary (and my ticket only cost $6.48) but it has some fair imagery and characterization with a smart script.
Spoiler:
So... to explain the origin of a vampire, they just introduce an even older vampire? Bah! Wonder if it was intentional the original vampire looked like Nosferatu. I liked the ending except for the reincarnation angle and was more curious what became of the son. Biggest problem was that it made "Vlad" look too much like a sympathetic hero.

Exists was about as good as a found footage bigfoot movie could be despite some obnoxious characters. Also it was a pretty big difference from Blair Witch Project for Eduardo Sánchez in style despite the same genre.
